Overview of energy subsidies in the EaP countries

This chapter summarises the main findings of the analyses of existing energy subsidy schemes in the six EU Eastern Partnership countries. It introduces the methodology used to identify and estimate government support for fossilfuel production and consumption, as well as support for energy-efficiency and renewable measures. The chapter also discusses the main energy pricing and taxation policies in each country, which underpin government support in the energy sector. It also offers a discussion of the potential benefits of energy subsidy reform and the challenges related to its implementation.
