The governance of land use in Prague

This chapter describes Prague’s spatial and land-use planning policies and instruments and its fiscal environment. It proceeds by describing the key governance actors for land use. Following this, the city’s major strategic and spatial politics and plans are described. This includes both the long-term development intentions of the city and the tools and instruments within the planning system to realise these goals. Following this, the fiscal pressures, tools and incentives that shape spatial planning are elaborated. The chapter concludes with a description of the new Metropolitan Act and how it will likely affect the governance of land use in the city.
